The relationship between Lin Xiaoxiao and Granny Gui has potential for a good found-family dynamic. Granny Gui’s shock and care for the Empress Dowager’s memory issues feels genuine. She’s clearly been with her for decades and is attached. But the narrative uses her as an info-dump and then dismisses her too often. I wish Lin Xiaoxiao would have a private conversation with Granny Gui that wasn’t just asking questions. Maybe a moment of genuine concern about how Granny Gui feels about her recovery. That would deepen the emotional dimension. Also, the lack of other regular servants—Cui’er and Xing’er are barely names—makes the palace feel empty. I realize this is an early chapter, and more characters might be introduced as the story grows. For now, it’s missing a lively support cast. The Empress and Emperor are present but they’re in different palaces; Cining Palace feels lonely.
I was a bit thrown by how quickly Wen Tiantian accepts her transmigration. There's almost no disbelief or panic; she just rolls with it. But I guess when you're in a crisis, you don't have time to freak out. Her priority is definitely to protect Chu Jin, which gives her a clear motivation. Still, I wish there was a moment of shock before she dives into action.
Honestly, the "three-year-old protagonist" thing could have been really annoying, but the author handles it by making her aware and capable in her mind while everyone treats her like a baby. It works for the genre. I'm just hoping that her age doesn't become a gimmick – that she actually acts like a child when it suits her and like an adult when it matters. So far, so good.
The way Pangu reacts when he figures out that Hong Yuan probably took the Chaos Pearl is hilarious and heartwarming. He doesn’t even get angry or ask for details. He just smiles, laughs louder, and secretly decides to kill that Chaos Demon God first to protect his brother. That is peak big brother energy. It makes me wish we got more slice-of-life moments between these two before everything goes down. Their dynamic is honestly one of the story's strongest points.
