I love that Miao Yunyou refuses to let Luo Xinglan push her away. That argument in the malatang place where Luo Xinglan tells her she doesn't need to come back - and Miao instantly flips it to "you're trying to abandon me" - perfect deflection. She knows Luo Xinglan doesn't want to be a burden, so she makes it about collective debt instead. Turning the "repaying her" narrative upside down so she becomes the one needing them, forcing them to feel needed, is such smart emotional manipulation. And her denial about jumping off the cliff being possible was played for laughs but clearly hiding something deeper.
Li Fu’s laughter when she realizes there are immortals is chilling. It’s not joy—it’s the laugh of someone whose entire worldview just shattered. All her life she believed in justice and the law, and now she finds out the universe is rigged by cultivators. That moment of hysterical realization is so well written. I felt my stomach drop.
