The return home and the interaction with his mother are a brief moment of normalcy. She’s a simple, caring farmer, and he hides his situation from her. This dynamic is realistic and grounding. The family’s poultry farm also provides a new context for his powers. He’s not just cleaning corporate sewage; he’s applying the elixirs to his family’s farm. This connects the magic to his personal life and his family's livelihood. It makes the stakes feel more personal and less abstract than just getting his job back or impressing his boss.
That line about Phia's "tail almost reaching the sky" when she's happy is such a vivid visual. I can picture the cat girl energy perfectly. The author knows how to write feline mannerisms in a charming way
After coming across several glowing reviews, I felt compelled to give this novel a try. Regrettably, I find myself unable to recommend it. The pacing of the story is exceedingly slow, making it a challenge to stay engaged. What began as an intriguing premise quickly fizzles out, leading the narrative down the well-worn path of a clichéd isekai. Instead of exploring the potential of its initial concept, the story succumbs to predictability, leaving much to be desired. Additionally, every action and scene is dragged out unnecessarily, laden with long-winded exposition and irrelevant dialogue that often seems to occur at the most inappropriate moments. This constant filler detracts from the momentum of the plot and serves to frustrate readers who are eager for progression. Furthermore, the novel overwhelms us with an excess of characters and plotlines, presenting them in a whirlwind of confusion without allowing any meaningful development to take place. As a reader, I found it difficult to form attachments or invest in any of the characters, as they seem to appear only to vanish without making any substantial impact. Ultimately, while I had high hopes for this read, the lack of cohesive storytelling and engaging character arcs made it a tedious experience. If you're looking for a well-paced narrative with depth and intrigue, this might not be the book for you.
