I'm curious about how the misinformation about AIDS and a child got started. The Gu family saw something at the police station a year ago, but was it legit or planted by Gu Ruyi? That's a major question hanging over the plot. I hope the author doesn't drop this thread and gives a satisfying explanation later.
The worldbuilding is introduced in the best way: through pure chaos. News headlines, emergency broadcasts, monster assaults. We learn everything the MC does, which makes the panic feel a lot more immersive. The “Federation Government” line is an interesting backdrop for a unified resistance, even if it's failing.
The dialogue in this story is very natural. Even the “historical” characters talk in a way that’s easy to follow, without excessive thee-thou language. The Empress’s line about “I cannot intercede for you without losing the trust of everyone” sounds formal but still feels spoken. And Shen Biluo’s “How big is your face!” is perfect modern slang that doesn’t feel out of place because the whole story has a comedic tone. The translation smoothness helps a lot.
2 I really appreciate that the one million isn't just for him to buy fancy stuff. He wants to leave it for his parents. That gives the absurd contract a very poignant underlying motivation.
