Let’s talk about the combat scene. The choreography for the Skill test was far better than I expected for this kind of story. The way they brought out a living Purple Zombie to show the gap between students was brutal. Showing Gao Kai’s Merman breath do basically nothing, then having Zhu Xiaotong’s Fire Crow actually hurt it, set up a very clear power scale. And then Xu Yi’s turn? That was a brilliant cinematic moment. The "Ming Heng Thunderbolt" incantation, the gathering silver snakes in his palm, the lightning bolt. It felt powerful, impactful, and the visual of the wound being carbonized with no healing was a perfect way to show "this is the *real* solution for zombies".
The setup for the conflict is strong. No magic talent, you need a weapon, you need a rare metal. It's a classic adventure hook presented in a new way.
I’m starting to get overwhelmed by the numbers. 100,000 steel, 200 timber… it’s a lot to keep track of. I trust the system will be balanced, but right now it feels like a spreadsheet. Hope the story focuses more on characters than math later.
One thing that really bugged me: how did Su Heng and Shen Jingyuan not know about the divine bone? They were direct disciples too. Feng Zeyan must have hidden it really well. But it also makes sense that the master would keep secrets from everyone to protect his plan. Still, the reveal that they were basically complicit in her exploitation is gross.
The snippet about Li Rongbing thinking "this is the trash son-in-law?" was perfectly placed. It reminds the reader that the MC has a reputation to rebuild, and it won't just be smooth sailing. The social world and the supernatural world are going to collide.
