Reading this left me feeling angry at the injustice but hopeful because the MC has tools. That emotional roller coaster is what makes a good page-turner. I honestly would recommend this to anyone who likes transmigration or family drama with a revenge streak.
The chapter where Jiliu Jia reflects on being beaten up by Li Tai repeatedly but still charging in—it’s almost tragic but also inspiring. His willpower is his only weapon. The scene where he picks up a rock and cracks Li Tai’s head—that was a satisfying moment of defiance. Even if he gets hurt, he draws first blood. It’s a small victory but it matters emotionally.
The setting of the bone sea is described with this gray-white mist and endless bones. It's got that haunting, bleak atmosphere I love in dark fantasy. The fact that the mist wall feels cool and has suction? That's a nice sensory detail. I could picture him stepping through into the unknown.
The opening scene where Wen Li is casually tending to chickens while her long-lost father's wife arrives is just brilliant. The neighbors crowding around, the old lady and Lin Yun's standoff, and Wen Li completely ignoring it all – it immediately sets up her character as someone who's not easily impressed. I love how she throws the broken basin, breaks it further, and stuffs her hands in her pockets. It screams "I don't care about your luxury life." The contrast between Lin Yun's expectation of a grateful orphan and the reality of this indifferent girl is super satisfying. It makes you root for Wen Li from the start.
The whole "killed by a former bully" opening felt rushed and kind of detached. He dies, wakes up as a baby, and immediately starts sassing the situation. I get that it's a setup for the isekai, but it lacked emotional weight. The death was just a checkbox to tick.
Gong Changan's perfect manners at the banquet were clearly drilled into him by his mother for this specific moment. His little greeting poem to the guests is adorable, but it's also a weapon. He is living proof that his mother didn't just survive the exile—she thrived in the face of it. A healthy, polite, handsome son is the best revenge against a family that wished for his death.
The power hierarchy (Common > Elite > Lord > Overlord > King > Hell > Catastrophe) is exciting. Starting at King potential gives a clear ceiling to aim for. I am wondering if he will actually reach Catastrophe level and become a god-tier threat.
