The whole “skill book page left by the bard due to stinginess” is a great origin for Xia Nan’s power. It’s not a mysterious artifact or a bloodline; it’s just a cheap scrap that a family kept for years. And the fact that only Xia Nan managed to learn it after all that time makes it feel earned through sheer stubbornness.
The romance angle is still there but completely twisted. Zhou Peiyu and Zhu Jiajia's one-night stand was supposed to be a romantic moment, but now it's a biohazard. The fact that he's immune but she's turning into a monster creates a tragic romantic tension. Can he save her? Does he even want to after what she did? Their relationship went from strangers to intimacy to horror in a day.
One thing I appreciate is that Ruan Ningyu isn't perfect. She's sarcastic, proud, and reckless. When she taunts Xie Ling, she's not being strategic; she's lashing out. That's realistic for someone who just died and woke up in her younger body. She's not a calculating mastermind yet; she's just trying to survive.
The detail about the storage bracelet being engraved with a micro-formation for preserving medicinal efficacy is a small but impactful worldbuilding element. It shows that Mu Yilan comes from a skilled or wealthy background. The top-grade pills with pill markings hint at a high-class cultivation family, which contrasts with the scumbag father’s low-grade storage bag. I love these little clues scattered around, like the mother’s muttering about her father and brother. It sets up mystery and makes me eager for future revelations.
The pacing of the orphanage to Hogwarts transition feels right. We get enough time in the miserable setting to understand why Xi En is so desperate, then we move on. The Station scene with McGonagall is touching, and the train journey gives us breathing room before school starts. I appreciate that the story doesn't rush or drag.
I wonder if Bai Yi will ever reveal his power to his family or keep it a secret. So far he’s been hiding it, like when he enhances the flowers behind his dad’s back. That could lead to interesting drama later—especially if his parents find out in a big way. I kinda hope he tells them eventually.
