Chu Mobai is such a dramatic, petty jerk. Bringing everyone to the KTV just to watch her squirm? He's clearly still not over her, and instead of dealing with his feelings, he's trying to humiliate her with his new, look-alike girlfriend. It's so childish.
The low-stakes parts are done really well. The scene on Mars is great. They find the temple. Don't touch the plaque. Take the loot. Leave. It is efficient. It satisfies the need to see the classic "temple on Mars" scene from the original while adding the unique twist that our protagonist knows the cheat codes for the dungeon.
The hidden arrow upgrade from Colon feels like a classic RPG moment: trade perishable goods for a new weapon. The description of its power (can kill a knight squire with poison) makes me excited for future fights. But Karl only has nine arrows total—that's not much if he runs into multiple enemies. Smart readers will count his resources. He needs to be careful or craft more.
The character of Jiang Ziming is so pathetic it's almost funny. Dropped out of school, can't get a girlfriend even at thirty, still living off his parents, and his only skill is bullying his cousin. When Jiang Fei throws him over her shoulder and stabs him in the thigh, I couldn't help but laugh. He's such a weakling that even a "weak" girl like Jiang Fei can take him down easily. The way he screams and lies on the ground too scared to move? Pathetic. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I guess.
