The whole “I forgot I was a student” line from Xi Yang feels like the author trying to skip the school-life integration. He literally didn’t remember school existed? That’s sloppy characterization. The cultivator should at least check the kid’s schedule.
I noticed the author used a lot of short sentences during the fight sequences, which made the action feel punchy and fast. Lines like “Bang! Die! Thump!” felt like reading a comic. But sometimes the narration got a bit choppy in calmer sections. It’s a balancing act that this novel hasn’t fully mastered yet.
The other trainees in the luggage room felt a bit wasted. They were just described as “quite a few newcomers” and then ignored. I wanted a bit of interaction or at least a name drop. It makes the world feel a little empty despite having five main characters. Hopefully, we get to meet them later for some ensemble drama.
The relationship between Jiang Nan and her mom feels so real. The mom is practical, worried, and wants nothing more than her daughter to be stable and married. She doesn’t understand the live stream world, and she’s skeptical. But she still feeds her and takes care of her. That mix of love and disappointment is something a lot of people experience with their own families. It’s subtle but adds emotional weight to the story.
The idle "what kind of miserable life have I been living" after discovering green talent vs white trash is a great character moment. It's self-aware, a little funny, and genuinely relatable. Anyone who's ever discovered they were operating at a disadvantage without knowing it will feel that line.
I love the moral ambiguity introduced with Hongjun's backstory. He was one of the three thousand demon gods killed by Pangu. He's not inherently evil; he just wants to survive and grow. His plan to devour the Primordial World is villainous, but his reasoning makes sense from a demon god's perspective. When Lin Yu later learns that Hongjun is forced to merge with the Heavenly Dao to avoid death, I actually felt bad for him. It would be interesting if the story eventually makes him a tragic figure rather than a pure antagonist.
