The moment the system detected abnormal soul waves, I thought the protagonist was going to die. The error messages and repair attempts created genuine tension. It showed that even the system has limits, which is refreshing in these stories where the system is often all-powerful. When the golden talent appeared instead, I felt relief but also some suspicion—is this a lucky break or a sign of something deeper?
I was not expecting the sudden apocalyptic twist! The transition from a mundane blind date to global disaster is jarring but effective. It feels like the story shifts gears totally, and I'm here for it. The black mist, sinkholes, and monsters appear out of nowhere, making the world feel unstable and dangerous instantly.
The dialogue is snappy and natural, which makes the reading experience very smooth. The lines between Shen Yuepo and Feng Jin are especially good. The contrast between his archaic, regal speech and her modern, cynical tone is fantastic. Lines like “But what does that have to do with me?” are delivered perfectly and tell you so much about her character in just a few words.
The Happiness Value system is interesting, but I'm a bit confused about how it works. Does the Empress only having 5 mean she's almost collapsing the world? That stakes are high, but I wish the system explained it more clearly. Still, the mechanic gives clear goals, which I appreciate for pacing.
So far, the story feels like a solid LitRPG start. The system is classic but the double chest twist and crafting economy give it a fresh spin. I’m definitely looking forward to what comes after the graveyard.
That moment when Tan Ci asks “Have we met before today?” – and it sounds like such a pickup line at first. But then you realize he’s dead serious. He’s been thinking about this question for a while. And Wu Yin’s response is perfect: “My memory is incomplete.” It’s refreshing that the author didn’t go the amnesia cliché route too heavily, but it’s still a clever way to introduce mystery between them. I really want to know what happened between those two in the past.
