Cen Fv's character introduction is my favorite part after the modern-meets-ancient humor. That moment in the carriage sequence builds tension perfectly. The pacing across these early chapters is tight—no filler, just setup and payoff. The Empress Dowager's implied threat through Southern Xinjiang tribute feels like setting up future court intrigue, and I'm actually curious how that connects to the main plot. The emotional stakes feel real even when the premise is absurd. Looking forward to seeing how this adaptation of the original novel's framework plays out.
My biggest fear is that the “game” part will overshadow the “god” part. Right now, the story is balanced, but if it becomes just a typical game level-up story with a fancy skin, I’ll be disappointed. The stakes for Gu Yuan (death) are so much higher than the stakes for the players (a 30-minute cooldown). I hope the author maintains that contrast. The god’s survival must feel urgent and not just like a video game progression system for the players.
The way the Old Madam is mentioned as the authority figure in the background is effective. She's a looming presence that influences everything, even when she's not in the scene. It adds to the feeling of oppression.
