The Crown Prince, Yu'er, is the infant son of the Princess and Prince Consort Qin Lang. He is switched at birth with a concubine's child and sent to a manor outside the city, where he is abused and falls ill with a high fever. He is rescued by the Embroidered Uniform Guard and an imperial physician on the emperor's orders. He is later legitimized and enters the imperial family genealogy.
