Doctor Hu is the physician at Xizhao Town Health Center treating Xi Yang. He is a slightly fat middle-aged man. He advises Xi Yang to stay in the hospital for at least a month due to the seriousness of the head wound, warning of possible sequelae. However, Xi Yang insists on leaving, using the excuse of an upcoming exam. Doctor Hu is firm in his medical advice but eventually allows the early discharge. He demonstrates professional concern but cannot override Xi Yang's decision.
