Huang Dayou is Xi Yang's geography teacher. He is quick-tempered and throws a blackboard eraser at Xi Yang for appearing distracted. Xi Yang bats it back, covering Huang in chalk dust. Enraged, he expels Xi Yang from class. Later, he searches for Xi Yang, who had been in the library all afternoon, and warns him about the monthly exam, indicating that poor performers will be transferred. He is authoritarian and intolerant of disrespect.
