Goto Shizuka is a salaryman (office worker) who becomes the first-person narrator and protagonist of the story. She is initially presented as lazy and fond of slacking off, preferring ramen over work. After being attacked by a mysterious hooded assailant and nearly dying from a neck wound, she gains a skill system that grants her healing and enhancement abilities. She is competitive, resourceful, and cynical, but also caring toward her kouhai Uryu. She decides to quit her job, withdraw her savings, and prepare for the impending monster apocalypse. She acquires survival gear and levels up by fighting monsters, using her skills like Continuous Healing and Swift Foot. She is determined to survive on her own terms and not be controlled by anyone. Her personality is sharp and sometimes aggressive, but she shows genuine concern for others, even strangers. She is the only character who directly receives the skill system from a mysterious Guide-kun. Her actions drive the plot forward as she adapts to the changing world.
