Karl Bergman is the protagonist, a transmigrator whose soul replaced the original Karl after a fire. He is a City Patrol Officer in Signo City’s South District, born in the Swick region of the Kingdom of Gando. He has slightly curly black hair that hangs to his shoulders, brown eyes, and a severe burn scar on the left side of his face. He is physically fit and practices Gale Swordsmanship, a knight-level sword technique inherited from his family. He possesses the ability to travel to a mysterious starry place that grants him absolute rationality and fine body control, and from there he can enter the alternate world of Black City. He seeks to inherit his father’s baron title, but the church demands thirty gold coins to prove piety. He is resourceful, cautious, and determined to obtain a breathing technique to become a knight.
