Nishioka is an older police detective who has known Goto for years. He has a large build, reminiscent of a judo practitioner, and a stern face, but he possesses a humorous side. He interrogates Goto about the stabbing incident and later about the monster attacks. Despite his official role, he trusts Goto and does not believe she is a criminal. He is investigating the strange occurrences and feels that something is deeply wrong with the world. He gives Goto his personal phone number, indicating a willingness to cooperate and a shared sense of unease. He represents the law enforcement grappling with supernatural events.
