Old Madam Cheng is the grandmother of the Cheng family. She lives separately with her divorced daughter, Cheng Xiaoying. She is relatively kind and fair, unlike her son and daughter-in-law. When she learns that Shu Yue has given birth, she brings boiled eggs for her. She supports Shu Yue's request for a family division and agrees to let Shu Yue and her baby live with her. She serves as a source of warmth and protection for Shu Yue.
