Qin Jin-Nian is the protagonist of the story. He is a time traveler from Earth who transmigrated into a high school student in a world of supernatural horrors. Three months after his arrival, during a Blood Moon event, he gains an interface with authorities related to shadows. He has the ability "Dark Eyes" which nullifies mental corruption from dark creatures, and "Shadow Control" which allows him to manipulate his shadow into various shapes and weapons. Initially weak in vitality and mental strength (4.23 and 6.15 respectively), he improves by killing and devouring dark creatures using the "Shadow Devour" authority. He faces a monster in the form of a beautiful girl (Good Sister) who tries to seduce him, but he resists her mental influence due to his Dark Eyes. He is forced to fight when she becomes aggressive, using his shadow powers to kill her and her insect spawn. He suffers from mental exhaustion and faints, later waking up to find the Blood Moon has passed. He is resourceful, brave despite his fear of bugs, and determined to survive in this dangerous world.
