Shogo Hamagishi is the original identity of the protagonist, a 29‑year‑old Japanese office worker who died and was reincarnated into the body of the anime character Jowain Date. He retains his memories and knowledge of the anime plot. He is the internal consciousness driving Jowain's rebellion, using his modern sensibilities to reject the inhumane orders. He struggles with the shock of becoming an older middle‑aged man but is determined to survive.
