Shu Yue is the female protagonist of the story. Originally a wealthy capitalist young lady, she lost her mother early and was raised by her maternal grandparents, who were doctors. To protect her from being sent down with them, her uncles arranged for her to go to the countryside in Heilongjiang. There, she was ostracized because of her background, and a local ruffian attempted to assault her, causing her to fall into a river. She was saved by soldier Cheng Jingchuan and, to avoid further harassment, publicly demanded marriage. He reluctantly agreed. In her previous life, she raised her niece Cheng Hui as her own daughter, only to be poisoned by her on her deathbed and learn that her own son had been swapped and died young. She is reborn to the moment she gives birth, determined to protect her son and seek revenge against those who wronged her. She becomes strong-willed and no longer tolerates abuse, actively fighting for her rights and a fair family division.
