Xiaoya is the two-year-old younger sister of Liu Ke. Described as adorable with rosy cheeks, she is entirely dependent on her family. Her life is threatened when her father proposes drowning her because of the family's destitution. This crisis becomes the direct motivation for Liu Ke to become a Blade Catcher. Though she has no dialogue or actions in the story, her innocence and vulnerability serve as a catalyst for the main plot and highlight the tragic choices faced by the poor.
