He wields twin short swords and knows advanced techniques including the Evasion Technique and sealing formations. He is knowledgeable about demons and their weaknesses, such as using garlic against Jinsi. Despite his rough manner, he is protective of his disciple, intervening when he is falsely accused. He teaches Liu Ke the practical realities of a Blade Catcher's life and cautions him about corruption. He lives outside the Blade Catcher Gate and is an "Unranked Blade Catcher." He is crucial to Liu Ke's early training and survival.
