Okay, this lore drop about the “upright ape from the Double Moon Star” came completely out of left field. I was expecting a standard corrupt sect or political power struggle, but an alien apocalypse via teleportation array? The genre shift to sci-fi horror caught me completely off guard, but I am totally here for it. “Demonic transformation” sounds terrifying.
Lu Ze's reaction to the system's kill-Righteous-cultivators mechanic is so relatable. He's stuck at Qi Refinement Level 3 after three years, and the system wants him to kill cultivators by... killing cultivators to get stronger. It's a frustrating chicken-and-egg problem. When he asked to unbind and the system just said "nope, already bound successfully" – I felt that despair on a personal level.
I am a little iffy on Yurou's characterization. She is “the perfect woman” a bit too much. Beautiful, athletic, caring, cooks. I hope she gets some flaws beyond being sick for one chapter. Otherwise she is just a trophy for the MC to rescue. The “sturdy human female” evaluation was funny but we need more depth.
Gender roles: the mother is beaten but the father (adoptive) was the only protector. Now he’s dead. So the female lead has to become the protector.
