The "Demonic Doctor Space" is an intriguing concept. It's not just a training room; it has a medical inheritance. This immediately opens up possibilities for her to be more than just a fighter. She could become a poisoner, a healer, or a creator of tricky pills and talismans. It gives her a versatile toolkit that feels unique compared to the standard sword-swinging protagonist. It fits her "meaner, more ruthless" attitude.
I just read the opening chapters of this novel and I'm genuinely hooked by that system twist. The whole "emotional points actually only count when they're negative" thing completely caught me off guard. It's such an interesting psychological angle that makes Lu Ze's three years of struggling as a writer make perfect sense. The author clearly put thought into how someone with a perfect memory might try to game a system without knowing its true rules.
Nakatsugawa is a walking template for a hero. Handsome, class center, reader model. He gets 'Hero of Light' and a holy sword. He feels like the perfect foil or a future reliable bro to the teacher.
Zhuang Lingyun coming back with her key, cooking in her kitchen? That’s either very romantic or very creepy. I can’t decide. He’s clearly not just some one-night stand—there’s something underneath his teasing. He acts like he already knows her from somewhere, but she doesn’t remember. Red flag or green flag?
The description of the underground lake and the reflection scene is beautifully written. The protagonist finally sees her new body, and the contrast between her old life (acne, dark hair) and her new one (clear skin, lighter hair) symbolizes a fresh start. The moment is quiet and introspective before the next wave of action. Good pacing.
The chapter ends on a hopeful note. Meru has gone from a terrified, hungry, confused newbie to someone who has fed her squad, earned their respect, and even taught them something. She still can't fight, and she's still scared of the job, but she now knows she has value. It's a satisfying first chapter arc that leaves you wanting more of her adventures with the "bandit" squad.
