Cord is the manager of the Ha Rui Trading Company responsible for the Northland border. He is a well-dressed, middle-aged man with a gentlemanly demeanor, always neat and polite. He was involved in the marriage arrangements and later the attempt to intimidate Owen. When Owen presents his soldiers, Cord quickly changes his attitude, offers extra supplies, and hands over two Serving Church maids. He is pragmatic and loyal to the company, but not overly aggressive after seeing Owen's strength.
