Kaede's father is the store manager of the Home Center where Kaede took shelter. He is resourceful and brave, building barricades from furniture to block the escalator and reinforcing the fire door. He had done judo in high school, which helps him fight off an attacker. Concerned about dwindling food, he volunteers to go downstairs to fetch supplies, but never returns. He leaves a heartfelt letter for Kaede, encouraging her to survive by any means necessary. He shows deep love for his family and sacrifices himself for his daughter's chance to survive.
