Meng Po appears in the hell plaza where Chu Qiu is battling ghosts. She holds a bowl of Meng Po soup, said to make one forget all pain. She speaks to Chu Qiu in a soft, seductive voice, trying to persuade him to drink it so he can forget his suffering. Her eyes show pity, but she is persistent. She represents the temptation to escape reality through forgetfulness. Chu Qiu angrily rejects her, saying "Meng Po, don't make me curse you to your face. If you like to hear it, I can even carve it on your tombstone!" She embodies the struggle between memory and oblivion.
