red-robed underworld judge
The Red-Robed Underworld Judge is a middle-aged, large built man standing two meters tall, with a full beard and wearing a wine-red official robe. He holds a pure black Ruyi scepter. He is summoned to the Ghost Gate when Du Yu's case needs judgment. He dismissively declares that the quota for wrongful deaths is full for the year and labels Du Yu as an accidental death, then turns to leave. When confronted by Cui Jue, he is slapped across the face and spins around. He immediately kneels and apologizes, addressing Cui Jue as "Great Judge." He represents the bureaucratic resistance and corruption within the underworld system, but also shows deference to higher authority when forced.
