Song Hemao is the second son of the Song family, married to Gao Siyue. He is initially seen chopping firewood and smirking when his mother goes to deal with Song Chuman. Under the influence of Song Chuman's plot modification, he suddenly rushes at his mother with the axe, cutting her shoulder badly, though he claims not to know what happened. He is rough and greedy, supporting the family's plan to sacrifice Chuman and later trying to grab the seafood she collected. When confronted by Song Hexiu, he is defiant but cowardly, backing down when his brother threatens to hit him.
