A mythical deity believed by the villagers of Qingyu Village to control the sea and good fortune. The Taoist priest claims that sacrificing children to her will improve fishing and living conditions. Though never appearing directly, her supposed will drives the central conflict—Chuman is sacrificed to her, and her return is interpreted as rejection or punishment. She is used by Li Cuicui and others to justify superstition and cruelty.
