The wood farmer’s appearance: “two crooked tree scars and the growth rings formed a pair of foolish eyes, two bumps for ears, a short branch for a nose, a crooked tree hole for a mouth.” The level of detail is ridiculous and I love it. I can picture this goofy log person perfectly. The author definitely put effort into making the summon feel unique rather than generic.
The indigenous people chasing a goat with wooden sticks felt very cliché for an isekai story. Short brown skin, rough linen, hunting with basic tools—I've seen this before. At least they weren't immediately hostile, and Chen Dian and Yan Yu hid in a cave, showing they're cautious. But I hope the worldbuilding gets more original later. The chasing scene itself was fine, just predictable.
2 I love the subtle worldbuilding about the Jinyiwei being a "sharp sword hanging above the Jianghu." It sets up a power dynamic where the court is feared, but the martial world is also restless. I can see potential for a bigger conflict with the demonic sects or other clans.
The detail about the food being salty and bitter was so relatable. I hate when food is too salty. It ruins everything. Su Bai pretending to be nice while serving her garbage is such a slow burn revenge. But why does he hate her so much? Did the original host do something to him? Or is he just a jerk? I need backstory on these husbands.
Abbess Miejue here feels a bit off compared to the original novel. In the books, she’s always stern and unforgiving, but here she has this soft spot for the MC because he reminds her of some old flame? The flashback with “Senior Brother Gu Hongzi” felt super forced. Like, come on, just because he stands straight, she instantly sees her dead crush? That’s a bit too convenient even for a transmigration story. Still, I’m curious how they’ll develop this – maybe it’ll explain why she’s so harsh to men later.
