The phrase “He is the most powerful Celestial Lord of the Starry Sky” is so grandiose that it’s almost funny. It sounds like a title from a video game or a Chinese web novel trope. I’m not sure if the author intends it to be taken seriously or if it’s part of the over-the-top charm. Either way, it sets a high bar for the father’s eventual appearance. He better be impressive.
I really felt for Lin Xueer when she started begging to be put down because she wanted to bite someone. That combination of fear and self-awareness is heartbreaking. The author did a good job making her sympathetic instead of just a damsel in distress.
The part where he passes through the glass door and the noise of the plaza fades... that's a great transition. It's a small, mundane detail, but it perfectly signals the end of one scene (the public humiliation) and the beginning of another (the private discovery of the system). It's an elegant way to move the story forward without a hard cut.
I’m really curious about Yu Tang’s healing powers. In her past life she was a top-tier healer, and now she’s got the same ability in the apocalypse. But she’s hiding it? Or just not using it yet? That green sphere glowing in her palm was a nice hint. I bet this is gonna be her ticket to making the beastmen actually respect her.
I really appreciate how the author shows the collapse through logistics data. Thirty percent fewer trucks entering the city. Delivery rates at an all-time low. That's the kind of concrete detail that makes disaster fiction work for me. Not just "everything went wrong" but a specific, measurable decline that anyone who's worked in operations would recognize. And Yu Molan's response? Just turning off the phone. I felt that tired resignation in my bones.
The tower defense game the MC played feels like a tutorial. The game literally has the same concept as the new world. Star Sea Insect Tide. This is either the MC's “Gamer's Body” manifesting, or the system downloaded the world settings from his mind. Chekhov's Mobile Game. I bet the upgrade mechanics are similar.
