Gunnar is Ragnar’s closest friend for over a decade, a strong blonde warrior. After Olaf’s death, he is the one who proposes making Ragnar the new Jarl. During the looting of Olaf’s longhouse, he finds a gold-inlaid drinking horn and claims it. He is later sent to gather allies for Ragnar and returns with a group of Viking warriors. He is loyal, decisive, and respected by Ragnar and the others, serving as a backbone of Ragnar’s forces.
