Halfdan is Ragnar’s third son, about ten years old, dressed in white clothes (hence his nickname “White Clothes”). He arrives in Gothenburg with his mother Ragnheid and the shield-maidens. He is still a child, too young for combat, but is protected by his family. His presence reinforces Ragnar’s family line.
