Ivar, nicknamed “Boneless,” is Ragnar’s eldest son, a fearsome warrior. He is hot-tempered and ruthless. At the Oslo council, when Borg insults Ragnar, Ivar challenges and kills four of Borg’s shield-bearers in rapid succession, earning fear and notoriety. He leads the pursuit of Borg across Scandinavia and into the Rus’ lands, showing immense determination. He also trains Vig in combat. Ivar is devoted to his family and will stop at nothing to avenge his mother’s murder, swearing to personally kill Borg and the King of Essex.
