A commoner living in Gothenburg who employs Vig to repair his roof for a bag of salt and two days’ food and lodging. He and his wife and daughter live in a humble longhouse. He provides Vig with information about Ragnar’s past, explaining that Ragnar is a famous mercenary but still a commoner. During the fight between Ragnar and Olaf, he hides his family and guards his home with an axe. He is a typical farmer-craftsman of the period.
